Continuing in our love affair with all things Australian this week, I'm sharing my top five local skincare buys — confession time, one isn't actually so local but it does have a huge fan in the form of Aussie Miranda Kerr, plus I've nominated an Australian alternative that also works wonders. From a great SPF moisturiser that's packed with antioxidants to protect against free radical damage and other environmental stressors to a mist that I can't get enough of, they're the daily products that myself and Miranda can't survive without. Find out what they are now. Written by Sarah Macrae
Sharon has developed a mind-body treatment that is nurturing, centreing and a wonderful way to focus on your inner health. A radiant complexion comes as a natural result of the care she gives and the products she uses.
“My love of yoga, meditation and Reiki, along with a desire to create an unforgettably nurturing experience, led to the development of MV Radiance Therapy**” Sharon tells me. “It’s the kind of treatment I always wanted someone to give me – a total skin and body healing experience.”
MV Organic Skincare can be used by anybody, not just those with sensitive skin, and Sharon often recommends products for clients to use at home. In the month since the treatment, I’ve been using the Gentle Cream Cleanser, which is removed with a warm Muslin Cloth as recommended by Sharon because it is gentle and acts as a mild exfoliant when used as a compress, followed by the Rose Hydrating Mist and either the Instant Revival Booster or the Rose Soothing & Protective Moisturiser, and I’m acutely aware of the improvement in my skin. It feels soft but also stronger, as if it is moisturised at a deeper level than before and so is better equipped to deal with the stress I put it through – office air conditioning, a night out, a diet that goes a bit haywire in the silly season, exam time…… the list goes on. The smell of the products alone is like giving yourself a quick aromatherapy session in the bathroom; your spirits are immediately picked up and, as we know, how we’re feeling on the inside often shows on the outside, this time as vibrant skin.
** Natalie O’Brien also performs MV Facials and is available in the Pharmacy on Monday’s.

Everyone has a different method of coping with cancer; Jessica Jones' was to blog her way through it.
'Chemo Chic - A Guide To Surviving Breast Cancer With Style' offers day-to-day advice on everything from moisturiser to Manuka honey, but writing her blog also led Jessica to embark upon a forensic investigation of her beauty products:
"My lashless eyes widened as I discovered that almost every one of them contained either neurotoxins, carcinogens or hormone disruptors."
She is now a self-confessed 'non-toxic beauty junkie', and kindly shared with us her essential products for a
non-toxic beauty regime:

Could you describe your skin type and concerns?
"My skin type is quite normal but it leans towards oil-dry during winter. My main concern is dark circles under my eyes."
What’s your skincare routine?
"I always cleanse with MV Skincare Gentle Cream Cleanser ($45, mvskincare.com) and remove with a warm to hot compress as I love the ritual and the beautiful aroma. I also can’t live without MV Energizing 9 Oil Cleanser ($84). It’s so multi-purpose: I use it to protect my skin from the harsh drying effect of water while I’m in the shower, and I love it at night as a treatment oil before bed."
What’s your top skincare tip?
"Don’t use anything inside the circle of the eye besides Pure Jojoba. It’s very much like the skin’s own sebum so is highly compatible with all skins, including the most sensitive. It’s super-gentle yet highly effective as an eye make-up remover, too."
One thing about skin you wish you knew sooner?
"Given how much I traumatised my skin in my 20s, I wish I had known then just how inappropriate it was to subject myself to fruit acid peels when I had quite normal skin, free from the conditions these products were originally developed to treat, such as acne scarring and prematurely aged skin."
Any skincare sins to confess?
"I don’t use a mask anywhere near as often as I should."
Any final words of skin wisdom?
"We’re all going to grow older – that’s a fact. We’re all going to get wrinkles one day – that’s a fact. I love what Sarah Murdoch had to say when interviewed for a magazine some time last year: 'Embrace the beauty of ageing'. Hear, hear!"
Emma, who works with 'About Life' in Rozelle & has a vast wealth of experience was more than happy to share her beauty secrets, including MV's Gentle Cream Cleanser, Instant Revival Booster, Rose Soothing & Protective Moisturiser and Aromatic Body Oil.
